for the friend who likes quirky finds: a 2025 gift guide
Welcome back to day 2 of my gift guides! This is one of my fav days because WHO DOESN’T LOVE QUIRKY THINGS?
one: starting off strong with this Truly Terrifying Trivia Game from one of my fav brands, Brass Monkey. if have trivia lovers in your life or love to gather with your pals, this is a great gift for a trivia night. it’s full of random true crime and generally wild trivia questions. example: What happens to human skin when a japanese giant hornet stings it? a.) it turns green, b.) it leaves giant hives, c.) it melts, d.) nothing (hint: it’s c (!!!).
two: bahahahahaha. this is just funny to me. little cocktail weiner erasers. idk. i would giggle if i opened these from a friend.
three: another fav thing of mine is ‘things disguised as other things’ and these Happy Organics beeswax candles in the form of Corn on the Cob, or birthday candles disguised as berries are my fav! i’d die to have the carrot tapers, myself.
four: when I was like 7 years old, we got my great grandma an oyster/pearl necklace kit that had an actual pearl inside that you harvest yourself by opening the oyster, etc, etc (do you harvest pearls? idk) and i just never forgot about it. like, who doesn’t want to harvest their own pearl?! (kinda gross so idk).
five: pickleball is all the rage, and so are snacks, so why not show up with a Pickleball Snack Tray?! best of both worlds.
six: imagine going over to someone’s house, or better yet, someone coming over to yours and you just have like, realistic bass fish on your feet. iconic. these Bass Slippers are funny and quirky to the max (but the reviews say they’re surprisingly comfy so…).
seven: i have this weird goal of being the person who offers random bandaids to people… like one time I gave my grown man boss a Bob the Builder band-aid and i liked everything about that interaction. These Pickle Bandaids would fulfill that quota, too.
eight: for the girls with lush hair but also an affinity for fish or snails, this is for you (but also they are kind of pretty in general): Goldfish or Snail Hair Clip
nine: if you have someone in your life who says “I’ll try anything once”, you could say, “Oh yeah, well what about handmade ukranian pinecone jam?” and then you could give them this. i wonder if you put it on toast? idk but it does say you can eat the pinecones. intriguing.
ten: in the era of protein everything, sometimes a good old fashioned hard boiled egg is the move. this Neg Egg peeler helps the shell come off in one fell swoop (you just add a little water into the cup and then shake away).
eleven: i keep seeing ads for this and i think these magnetic polygon measuring spoons are cool because they are like a universal measuring spoon and a spreader and a scoop all in one.
twelve: i truly, truly LOVE my candle by the hour aka a very cool spiral beeswax candle apparatus that is fun to look at and also puts itself out when it’s done burning (which is good if you sometimes also forget to blow your candles out). p.s. don’t get the horizontal candle-by-the-hour, it doesn’t burn the same and it drips sooo much, ask me how i know).
thirteen: if you, like me, work at a desk for your day job, i am just so certain a fold-your-own origami paper highland cow herd on your desk would make the day better.
fourteen: Hear me out — most everyone participates in pizza pick-up at some point in their adulthood, and if you do it more than annually, but you pick-it-up-yourself, then maybe an Insulated Pizza Bag would rly be a game changer to keep those puppies hot and ready.
alright, that’s all for now! i think this is my fav gift guide so far. i know it’s only my 2nd one, but i love all the things. someone get that pinecone jam so we can taste test.
back tomorrow! happy shopping!
