32 books on my 2022 reading list
Wow, how are we already into the 6th week of 2022?!! Time flies! I’ve admittedly had a bit of a slower start to my reading this year juggling work/life/things, but I’m finally back to giving books the renewed attention and adoration they deserve.
Last year, I met my reading goal of 75 books, but this year I’m not as much focused on the amount of books to read as I am the actual books + authors themselves. In addition to reading new books, both from authors I’ve never heard of and authors I love, I plan to finish some of the books I started in 2021, catch up on some early editions of books I’ve been gifted from publishers AND I’m going to revisit some of my past favorites, which I might be most excited about. I don’t find books get the same repeat attention as other mediums of content (like songs, movies, TV shows), but this year it’s my goal to return and re-read some of my literary faves — it’ll be like reuniting with an old friend and grabbing coffee after a bit of time apart!
Now, as a reminder, I try to utilize the library as much as possible. I think libraries are one of the greatest gifts and are far too underutilized. I mostly request and read books from the library first, then, if they’re 5-star reads, I usually buy the book to have as part of my personal library. This helps cut down on costs, keeping reading as free + fun as possible. I encourage you all to become BFF’s with your local library, too!
Also, it’s worth noting that if I start a new book and it’s vulgar, raunchy, repetitive or straight up just doesn’t resonate or sit right with me, even mid-way through, I’ll stop reading it. I think that’s what keeps reading special and enjoyable for me. I’m not the kind of reader who has to see a book through to the end to say I read it or to see if it gets better. There are far too many amazing books out there to waste time reading through ones that don’t keep us captivated or challenged, amiright?! So, #dontsettleforbadbooks, okay?
Anyway, all of that to say, here are 32 books I’ve got on my bookshelf for 2022 (with links bc I love you, but remember to check your library first!):
